PRODUCT TEST – Chemical Guys jetSEAL109 vs M-SEAL

If you read the labels of these two popular sealants from Chemical Guys, both sport the usual marketing terms for LSPs: “finest protection”, “unparalleled”, “warm glow”, “superior shine”….
What’s the difference? Well, if you go by the labels, it’s hard to tell. If you check what people are saying online, no one really has a definitive answer.
So, I devised a test to get more definitive answers comparing the two. I would apply Chemical Guys M-Seal to one side of my car, and jetSEAL 109 to the other.
Both sides were prepped the same. just a simple two-bucket wash with Chemical Guys Citrus Wash+Gloss, and a quick application of Poorboy’s World Professional Polish for an even surface to start.
Both M-SEAL and jetSEAL 109 are pure sealants. That means, unlike the Optimum Poli-Seal I tested previously, they don’t have any type of cleaner or polish in them. This means, in most cases, you will want to use something before hand (a pre-wax cleaner, paintwork cleaner, or a light non-abrasive polish, like the Professional Polish I used).
First, I taped a line straight down the middle. I used a microfiber applicator and applied a thin coat of M-SEAL on the left and a thin coat of jetSEAL109 on right. Both Chemical Guys paint sealants apply very smooth and easy.
M-SEAL’s instructions say to allow 10 minutes for it to bond before removal, and 15-25 minutes for it to cure before a second coat. JetSEAL109 instructs 15 minutes for bonding, and 20 min before a second coat.

For sake of consistency, they both bonded for 15 minutes and were then removed with a Ultra-Plush microfiber.

The first thing I noticed was jetSEAL was surprisingly easy to remove and M-SEAL was a bit of a pain to remove. Even with the very thing coat I applied, it took quite a bit of buffing to get the M-SEAL residue off.
I eventually got it the M-SEAL residue removed, and let both sides sit for 20 minutes to allow both sealants to cure.
After curing, I applied another coat of M-SEAL and another coat of jetSEAL 109. I let them both sit for another 15 minutes to allow proper bonding, and then removed them with another clean microfiber.

MY OPINION:
As far as look goes, I couldn’t see a difference. As for ease of use, jetSEAL109 was much easier to remove. For the $10 difference in price, I would definitely recommend jetSEAL109 over M-SEAL, just because of how much harder M-SEAL is to remove. Now, when I say that, it really isn’t as horrible as you might think. If I had only used M-SEAL, I still think I’d comment of the difficulty of removal, but since it wouldn’t be right next to jetSEAL 109, I don’t think I would put so much emphasis on it.
If you are looking for a great look, a true sealant probably isn’t the best solution. That is why the true test of these two Chemical Guys Sealants will be durability. Since this is the car I drive 300-400 miles a week (almost all highway), and park on the street in the city every day, this car was a great candidate for a durability test.

至于看云,我看不出差别。作为易于使用的,jetSEAL109是更容易除去。对于价格10元的区别,我肯定会推荐的,只是因为多么困难M-SEAL是消除jetSEAL109过M-SEAL。现在,当我说,真的不是你想象的那样可怕。如果我只用M-SEAL,我仍然认为我会评论拆除的难度,但因为它不会是旁边jetSEAL109,我不认为我会放这么重视它。
